Charlotte General Overview
One of the hottest places to live on the East Coast, Charlotte is growing in every direction imaginable. In the last ten years, the migration of companies in all industries to the Charlotte area has created one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation right here in the heart of the Carolinas. Still this part of North Carolina, and indeed the whole Piedmont Region, maintains its old world pace and much of its Southern charm.

Charlotte is located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. It is an easy drive to the mountains, the coast, and other attractions in the Carolinas.

The North Carolina mountains are a convenient two to three mile drive from Charlotte. Hiking, white-water rafting, kayaking, fishing, camping, and rock climbing are popular activities in the area. Popular destinations in this regin include Grandfather Mountain, The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, The Blue Ridge Parkway, and Biltmore Estate in Asheville.

The North and South Carolina beaches are about a four hour drive from Charlotte. The Outer Banks area of North Carolina in approximately an eight-hour drive from Charlotte. Visitors enjoy sunning, swimming, fishing, and boating. Other coastal area attractions include USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial, The Lost Colony, and Myrtle Beach.

Charlotte Education
Charlotte offers an enormous selection of high quality education from kindergarten through graduate and post-graduate studies. In addition to the public school systems, which are organized by county and have some impressive statistics, Charlotte contains a large number of private schools, some affiliated with various religious and non-religious orders.
